Our Purpose

The purpose of our preschool is to provide a Christian outreach program for our church members and our community.  It is our desire to provide opportunities for total growth for the child.  This encompasses the child's spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical well being.  Our school looks at each child as an individual and strives to help each one develop a healthy self-concept in a safe environment.

The early childhood years are the most formative years. The child reaches out to the world in a constant act of discovery.  During these growing years, Clemmons United Methodist Preschool seeks to:

    1.  Enrich the child's discovery.
    2. Provide the child with a wide variety of learning experiences.
    3. Channel the child meaningfully while nurturing their imagination and sense of wonder.
    4. Surround the child with love and security.

At our school, we feel that play is an important part of a child's world where it is often his or her prime educator. A child needs opportunity for play that is active and quiet, spontaneous and planned, indoors and outdoors, and done alone and with peers.

We feel a child learns best by doing. The classroom is arranged in interest centers so the child is free to explore, discover, and participate in a wide variety of activities. Time for artistic and music expression is valuable in the child's development. Children learn from experiences that allow them to express their ideas and feelings.

Curriculum

At Clemmons United Methodist Preschool we are very proud of our staff and facility.  We offer young children an opportunity to learn and grow with an excellent teaching staff.  Our facility and staff give each child the opportunity to grow mentally, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually at their own rate.  In our preschool, we offer large and small motor development on a daily basis.  Through center-based teaching, each child is given the opportunity to grow and develop at his or her own rate.

Entrance Requirements

All children entering our program must be of the age of the class they are enrolling in on or before August 31st.

Pre-Kindergarten

In an effort to better prepare our Pre-K children for Kindergarten, the Pre-Kindergarten preschool day is from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  This allows the children to have extended curriculum learning for an additional thirty minutes as well as giving them the opportunity to eat lunch in class with their friends.  This extended time greatly helps the children adjust to a longer day in their Kindergarten year.

Schedule

The preschool is in session from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM for Infants through Fours, and until 1:00 PM for Pre-Kindergarten.  Our teachers begin unloading Threes through Pre-Kindergarten children on the breezeway side of the building at 8:55 AM.  Children under the age of three must be brought to and picked-up from the classroom.  Each child must have a teacher or guardian bring them into the building.  No child may ever enter or leave the building unattended.

Lunch Bunch

After preschool is over at 12:00 PM, we offer a Lunch Bunch program for the children to have an opportunity to eat lunch, share, and play together.  Our staff supervises this program.  Lunch Bunch is over at 1:00 PM with all children over the age of three being loaded into cars under the breezeway.  The cost for Lunch Bunch is $4.00 per day.  No reservations are necessary, simply pack your child's lunch.  You will be billed with your monthly tuition for your Lunch Bunch fees.
