Opportunities for Children

We have four ensembles for preschool and elementary children.

Angel Choir is for Preschoolers ages 3-5 (turn 3 by Aug. 15). In the context of play, preschoolers will explore the music basics of rhythm, pitch and melody through language, listening, kinesthetic and vocal expression. We will use rhythm instruments, scarves, and puppets to nurture these youngest musicians, help them find their singing voice and give them a wealth of musical experiences.

Joyful Noise Choir is for children K-2nd grades. Joyful Noise participants will learn spiritual truths and musical expression through age-appropriate music/movement activities and quality repertoire. Focus is on expanding participants’ musical vocabulary, developing their singing voices and preparing music for worship services.

The Choristers is for children in 3rd – 5th grades.  An intermediate-level choir which teaches vocal technique and the foundations of part singing, Choristers practice proper use of their vocal instruments while preparing anthems to sing inSunday morning worship and other special services.

Chiming Children A precursor to our handbell group, chiming children, grades 3 – 6, learn basic ringing and music reading techniques while preparing music for worship using Schulmerich choir chimes.  The Chiming Children Choir is a wonderful way for children, with or without music experience, to learn about music, have fun and learn about working together to praise God through music. This group is led by Jenny Currie and Sharon Harry. Chimers must make a reliable commitment to weekly rehearsals.
