Chapel, Memorial Garden/Outdoor Classroom
As you may remember from an earlier Blog, the chapel was in desperate need of work. There was water damage and mold that had to be eradicated and repaired. The Trustees saw this as the perfect opportunity to remodel the space for more flexible use.
As the summer draws to a close the work is almost done. The walls are painted and the new floor is in. A new larger cross is almost finished and will mark the room as a place for prayer, worship, small weddings, funerals, study, and learning. Thanks to the Trustees and others who have volunteered their time to make this a wonderful usable space for the future.
The other project that is underway and should be finished in the next several weeks is the new memorial garden/outdoor classroom. “The little Red Building” is in place and masons are currently rebuilding the walk and wall. The space will be handicapped accessible and will provide a wonderful atmosphere for learning and play for our children. The entrance to our children’s department will also be enhanced by this beautiful addition/upgrade to our property.
Finally, one of the HVAC unites for our old fellowship hall went out last month. It is currently being replaced and being paid for by the After-school program at Clemmons UMC. Thanks to Lynn McMahan and the After-school program for this $10,000 gift to the church.
