Text/HTML Clemmons United Methodist Preschool is a half day Preschool Program. We offer classes from Infants to Pre-Kindergarten. Our hours are 9:00am - 12:00 pm with the option of classes: 2 day (Tues, Thurs), 3 day (Mon, Wed, Fri) and 5 days a week for ALL age groups. We also have an optional Lunch Bunch offered daily from 12:00 to 1:00pm. Call or e-mail us today for additional information. Enroll now to guarantee your spot for the 2012-2013 School Year. We believe through love and acceptance, learning is naturally fostered. Our children learn through play, but all activities have an education objective and purpose. In the article below, we have highlighted our focus on literacy and math. Built into our preschool day, is also time for artisitic expression, musical appreciation, physical education and dramatic arts. In addition to what we provide inside the classroom, we offer 2 specials a week for all our students: Story Time with Mrs. Patty, where our books come alive, and Music and Movement with Mrs. Malysa, where we wiggle and play our instruments. Our Threes, Fours and Pre-K classes also receive beginning foreign language instruction through Spanish with Senora Nora. Once a month, we have guest teacher come in for PE day where we work those large muscles important for healty physical development. CUMP is a happy place to be, where children can gain independence needed to tackle the amazing world around them. Come an see all we have to offer. All ages participate in shared reading where the teacher leads a daily mini lesson using a short poem to highlight specific skills (letter identification, sight word recognition, etc.) Building competence in math is another goal at CUMP. Our classrooms offer numerous opportunites throughout the day to promote mathematical thinking. Our curriculum focuses on the 5 key components of math: number concepts, patterns, geometry, measurement, and graphing. When our children build towers in our block centers, they are recognizing simple geometric shapes and gain spatial sense - all the while having fun. Registration Time is Here: We will hold enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year on Wednesday, February 22nd for those currently enrolled and their siblings at 8:00am. Tammy has a BA Degree in Child Development from NC State and a Masters in Teaching from Queens University. She also has a K-6 certification with 7 years of preschool and 15 years of elementary education experience. Renee has a BA in Ecomonics from Wake Forest University and a MBA from Brenau University. She brings 20 years of business and HR experience to the preschool. Tammy and Renee work in conjunction with Kathy Giff, Minister to Children and Families. Kathy has a BA in Psychology and Studio Art from Furman University. She has completed graduate classes in Social Work and Early Childhood Development. We offer ongoing training to our teachers and the majority of our staff have been here over 5 years. If WSFCS is on a one or two hour delay, CUMP will open at 10:00am. There will be NO Breakfast Bunch and we will not be able to do car line drop off. All students must be brought into the building.
