CUMC Safe Sanctuary Policy
We are excited to have you visiting our website! Hopefully you will want to join us here at Clemmons UMC as you see what we have to offer for your children and family. We are dedicated to helping children know and grow in their relationship with God. There are several ways CUMC strives to help you as parents bring up your children in the faith, including: Children's Worship, Sunday School, Faith Xpress , seasonal activities and various service and mission projects throughout the year. We hope that your children will find a place in some of these ministries.
Nursery/Childcare
During the 8:40 am, 10:55 am and 11:15 am worship services, as well as during the 9:45 am Sunday school time, loving care is available for children from birth through two year olds in our Faith Foundations Nursery Care program. A pager system is available for children and their parents during Sunday School and all Worship Services. Our Sunday morning care rooms are located in C102, C103, and C104. Please, stop by room C105 to pick up a pager, and then sign in your child at the classroom door. Security nametags are also available at each classroom. Additional information and direction can be found in the Faith Foundations brochure located at the entrances to the Children's building and the Family Life Center. Our paid caregivers and volunteers are always willing to help! All three year old through pre-kindergarten children are cared for in C205 in the Worship Wonders and the Live B.I.G. Sunday School programs. Parents need to sign in their children at the classroom door.
Children’s Library
Please feel free to browse in our children’s library located in room C208. Resources are available for children and parents to borrow. We hope that families will take advantage of these resources to grow in your faith.
Sunday School
Sunday School is held from 9:45 am – 10:45 am. Children, ages 3 through 5th grade participate in combined age groups, using the Live B.I.G. curriculum. This curriculum uses inviting stories, role models, sights, and sounds that provides a foundation for Christian living and leads children to experience and mirror God in their everyday lives. Our classes meet in the following rooms each week:
Threes, Fours and Pre-Kindergarteners meet together in C205
Kindergarteners and First Graders meet together in C214
Second and Third Graders meet together in C210
Fourth and Fifth Graders meet together in C213
We use a rotational team of teachers for each group. Check out the bulletin board in the Children's wing to see who your child's teachers are.
Children's Worship
We have several worship opportunities for your children at CUMC during the 8:40 am, 10:55 am and 11:15 am services.
Worship Wonders...our Preschool program offered at 8:40 and 10:55 in C205 for ages 3-5 (Pre-Kindergarten): The children learn about the Bible and worship as they participate in activities, learning centers and group time. Please remember to sign in your children outside the door and to leave your location information just in case we need you.
Rock Solid Worship...our Early Elementary program offered at 8:40 only in C209 for children in K-2nd Grade: The children in this group are invited to leave the service following the Children's Moment to attend our Children's Worship program. An adult will escort them to the room, where they learn about the Bible and worship. They participate in small group activities, large group worship and story time as well as engage in conversation about the weekly Bible story. Parents need to pick up their children in C209 following the service.
We also have Worship Bags available for children desiring to stay with their family for traditional worship. The bags contain drawing and learning materials to supplement your child's worship experience. Worship Boxes are available at the Family Zone tables in the Praise service. All children are welcome to join their families in any of the services offered at CUMC.
At Clemmons UMC, we make every effort to provide a safe and secure environment for all children who come through our doors. Please take time to look over the hot pink Safe Sanctuary guidelines that are available in the church Narthex and at the Faith Foundations sign-in table. If you have any questions regarding where any of the nursery or Sunday School rooms are located, please consult the facility maps scattered throughout the buildings or ask anyone you meet and they will be happy to help you with directions. We hope your visit here is meaningful and do not hesitate to contact the church staff with any questions you may have.
Faith Xpress
Climb aboard our Wednesday night experience for all children in kindergarten through fifth grade...Faith Xpress! It's more than choir as you have previously experienced. Come express your love for the Lord through song. Express your delight with God through movement. Express your joy for Jesus through music. Express your gifts from God through drama. And express your desire to know more about God through Bible study.
Faith Xpress meets from 6:30-7:30 pm on Wednesday Evenings during two different sessions each year: September-December; and February-May.

T.E.A.M. CUMC...our Fourth and Fifth Grade Youth Group: This active, energetic group is full of desire to serve others and to have fun together doing just that! The group named themselves when it started in 2010. T: Together; E: Encouraging; A: All; and M: Missions became their goal. The group meets at least once a month for fellowship, service or mission projects and of course FUN!!

KiDs SeRvInG kIdS...mission-minded activities lead by CUMC children: The children of CUMC have many mission projects in which to participate throughout the school year. to name a few: School Supply Kits for the Food Pantry (August and January); Project Shoebox (September); UMCOR Kits (September); Fill the Manger with Baby Items (December); Nickels for Nails Campaign (February-April); and VBS Missions (June).
Seasonal Activities for Family Fellowship: We offer several different opportunities for faith-enrichment and fellowship throughout the year: Faith Night at the Dash; Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat; Angel Breakfast; Clemmons Family Christmas Celebration; and Easter Extravaganza.
